Alamo Beer’s Taproom Is Getting a Second Act
Alamo Beer Company is getting ready to pour again.
The East Side brewery, located beneath the Hays Street Bridge, says its taproom and beer hall are expected to reopen in July 2026 after renovations. An exact grand reopening date has not been announced yet.
For longtime fans, this is more than a reopening. It is a comeback.
Alamo Beer was founded by Eugene Simor in 1997 and built its name around Alamo Golden Ale, a beer with a deeply San Antonio identity. According to the brewery, it was the first beer to carry the Alamo name since Prohibition began in 1919.
After years of contract brewing, Alamo Beer opened its own brewery near the Hays Street Bridge in 2015. The location quickly became one of the most recognizable brewery settings in the city, with a large beer hall, outdoor beer garden, downtown views, and a front-row seat to one of San Antonio’s most historic bridges.
It also became part of the larger East Side story. The land around the Hays Street Bridge has long been tied to conversations about development, public space, neighborhood change, and who gets to shape the future of the area. That history made Alamo Beer more than just a place to grab a pint.
Over the years, the beer hall became known for trivia nights, live music, karaoke, food trucks, family afternoons, and casual weekends outside with a cold beer.
