April's Chinese Closes for Major Revamp

A familiar South Alamo Chinese spot is temporarily closed.

April’s Chinese Restaurant at 2030 S Alamo St is boarded up for a major renovation, and its Google listing now shows the business as temporarily closed.

The longtime neighborhood go-to closed to the public on May 1, according to signs posted at the restaurant. Reported renovation plans include interior and exterior updates, restroom work, wall replacements, new flooring, paint, and lighting.

For plenty of locals, April’s has been one of those practical, reliable places for an affordable meal without a fuss. This pause looks like a reset, not a disappearance.

No reopening date has been confirmed yet.
